The March

I attended an event know as "The March" organized by Art of Living Foundation at Parliament street on 1st March 2009 . The whole motive behind organizing such an event was to energize the youngsters and reiterate about the power they have them to change the society . It was mainly targeted to root out deadly evils from society like terrorism and corruption .
More than 2 weeks after the event I would like to share my take on the event and its post effect since there has been decent time for me to analyze the aftermaths of it .
First of all Kudos to the organizers for coming up with idea but I have few suggestions which I feel could have been taken care on the Dday . Here is my List ...

1.The Poster which was distributed had the March predominantly written all over but the basic theme which was about getting rid of corruption , Terrorism were written comparatively in smaller fonts which was hardly visible if we are seeing from a distance . So while we marched from Parliament street to India Gate and people tried displaying to the roadside Public traveling in vehicles it was hardly visible to them what was it all about . They were curious to know what was happening but couldn't actually make much out of it.
2. Big Banners at the starting and middle in the hands of people would have helped in spreading the message
3.At the stage the Photo of Gandhiji or any of the great Indian Freedom Fighters should have also been there to inspire us and also it would have shown our respect for them
4.Few Indian Flags would have also been distributed which people would have waved while we were listening to speeches and also while doing march .
5.When we reached India Gate there was no clear cut mandate given to people as what we need to do there .What I thought probably could have been done was that volunteers should have been given task to educate the people present at India Gate the importance of casting their vote .If one of the volunteers would have spoken to 5 people then it would have broadened our base and our message would also have reached to much wider audience .
6.Finally at the end of speeches and apart from pledge we should have set list of action items which we wud be concentrating on and we plan to meet tentatively in say 3months .This way the volunteers would have felt more responsible and felt more accountable to society

Now 2 weeks after attending the event I feel that the euphoria and pledge we had taken on the day has faded to a larger extent . The sustainability of such a moment is very important if we really want to march ahead as a nation by wiping out the deep rooted evils of society which I feel is currently missing here . Hence I urge the March community to fix some kind of goals and action items to ensure that we have path to trod along rather then meeting someday and then diverging to our own ways .

A Week After !

I am writing this post a bit late but this is what was the status one week after I started going to gym . This week was quite enjoyable at Gym I was able to work out as directed by the instructor and it was mainly concentrated for the lower part of the body . The high point of the Gym has been that I have been able to run 4 km at a stretch and I am close to achieving the target of 5 km as set in my new year resolution and I hope to meet it pretty soon . There are few areas where I need to work on like I am not able to spend enough time in Gym . The total time spend in the Gym is currently around 1 hr which I want to increase to around 2 hr and this can only happen if I reach there by around 5:30 at the max. I am planning to reach there tomorrow at this point of time ..Let me see how much I am successful in it.
The reason for going early tomorrow is that I am planning to attend a Delhi cycling club event for heritage cycling ride at India Gate and need to reach there by 8 : 30 .Hopefully its goona be fun and educational affair

Feel Good Factor

Today I joined a Gym near to my residence . I had been contemplating a while at this option for quite some time but I was always thinking that I can workout on my own and avoided going to Gym.One of my new year resolution is that I will start running for 5 kms a day but I was finding it tough to achieve even 2 kms a day target plus I could feel my waistline getting bigger and unhealthy looking at mirror thats when I decided its enough of self controlled mechanism and let me look for a foreign factor to influence my workout . This is how it happened and luckily there was a new Gym opened near to my place so both the things worked quite in tandem for me to resist joining it .
I went there around 9 AM in the morning and I did all the exercise mainly for the lower part of the body as they involved walking and running on the walker for a period of around 15 mins covering a distance of 1.6 kms approx followed by cycling and another exercise for legs (I dont know the machine name :( ) . The person asked me to do a few exercise of for the ever expanding waist line and that was the toughest part of all the exercise I did today .... at a point I thought that trainer should call it a day as I was getting exhausted ..and luckily he did so after few minutes.....and I was bit relived .It was really a good begining to sunday morning as I really felt better after attending the gym session today and somehow had a feeling of inner happiness which made me to write ths post .... I hope to continue this feel good factor and wish it doesnt dry up soon :)

Spirituality and Me !

Today I had to attend a Sunderkand Path at my Maternal Uncle's house and I was feeling bit awkard and tizzy as honestly speaking with no disrespect to God I am just not comfortable attending religious functions where one needs to listen to chants and rhymes of holy mantras when at the deep of my hurt I know I am not understanding anything what is being said . The worst part for me came when I was supposed to read the book of sunderkand in chorus and I was just chanting without really understand anything out of it . To me it was like the famous hindi proverb "Kala Achar Bhains Baraber " being truly visualized in front of my eyes .
This is the feeling which is being echoed by lot of people from current generation and I am not sure if it would be wrong to say the feeling of Indian and religious sentiments is slowly dying and being taken over more by probably more simpler and easier to understand western culture . If this trend really continues I dont know what my children would learn from me when i am finding it tough to absorb what my parents tried to teach me .

New Year Resolutions

I always wonder why we wait for January 1 to start some thing new ..my personal feeling is that perhaps its just that we want to buy some more time to be addicted to what is what we know its not right & since I am very much part of this world so I am also very much party to it ..but nevertheless I have decided on few areas where I want improvement in myself and would like to share with the whole world so as to create some extra bit of pressure on myself :)

1. Always use stairs instead of escalators and lift (when I am not in hurry )
2. Be committed but don't get married :)
3 .Be part of pankhudi in slightly more active manner
4 .Jog regularly and finally in a phased manner ensure that I start running at least 5 km a day
5 .In summers once again start playing Badminton
6. Try a hand at pool (both swimming & table )
7 .Purchase a car
8 .Sleep on an average for max 6 hrs a day
9. Atleast write 100 blogposts by this year end
10. Start a PhotoBlog

Here I come !!

I have been thinking for quite a while to start a blog of my own but may be you can blame it on my laziness or different mindset which has kept me away from this powerful medium of expression . Through this post I want to shun all my previous attitude and usher in this intresting journey in a Brand new year .I have been a regular diary writer since childhood and had somehow inculated the feeling that personal relationships & feelings should be kept private therefore I was slighltly reluctant to open up in blogsphere but after many delibrations with inner self I found that probably I was wrong and I need to speak up if I really want to bring some change .Through this post I just want to say the community that .....Here I come !!!!
